Kang Chae-Rim’s stellar performance led the Montreal Roses to a 2-0 victory over the Calgary Wild in a thrilling Northern Super League soccer match held in Montreal on Saturday. The South Korean player showcased her skills by scoring two crucial goals. She first found the net just before the halftime whistle in the 45th minute and then doubled the lead for Montreal with another goal in the 50th minute.
These goals marked Kang’s second appearance for the Roses following her recent signing with the team on August 7. Montreal’s persistent attacking play paid off when Kang unleashed a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, hitting the top corner of the Calgary net to break the deadlock.
Kang completed her brace by capitalizing on a well-placed pass from defender Stephanie Hill, who located her unmarked in the box. Kang confidently slotted the ball past Calgary goalkeeper Stephanie Bukovec to secure the victory for the Roses.
With this win, the Montreal Roses improved their record to 8-5-4, amassing a total of 28 points in the league standings, currently trailing AFC Toronto by four points. On the other hand, Calgary experienced a setback, dropping to a record of 6-9-2.
