Katie Price has claimed “it was awful” as she shared a frank update on her health struggles. Sharing the admission during a recent episode of her Katie Price Show podcast, the former glamour model reflected on a difficult ordeal that was sparked by her ongoing treatment for ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder).
After originally taking two forms of medication to help treat the condition, she shared how the adverse affects of the treatment soon began to take it’s toll on her.
She said: “I looked like I was on drugs and it was awful. I called the doctor, and he said ‘come off it immediately’ and then I was like, if I knew that then I wouldn’t have taken it over the weekend.”
After happily taking her doctor’s advice, she shared how she now pursues alternative methods to help combat the affects of the neurological condition: “It was horrible what I had to go through. So, I’m not on medication, I’ve learnt to deal with it myself.”
Earlier in the podcast the TV personality explained that she plans to learn “techniques” in a bid to try and overcome the impact of the condition.
She added: “Now that I understand what ADHD is, I’ve learnt techniques to help cope with impulsiveness, reactions, and it still doesn’t change me because I’m still the same and I still get the same, what can I say, just I’ve got it and no one else has got it, so I don’t really understand your brain’s.
“So I suppose it’s educating other people that my brain’s connected differently and I’ve managed it well.
“Instead of reacting to things I think more about my reactions I’m not as impulsive. Just things like that, I’ve understood it, so, I found that I don’t need medication, because I’ve worked through the techniques.”
According to the NHS, symptoms of ADHD usually begin before the age of 12 with most of those with the condition showing difficulty paying attention, having high levels of energy and a difficulty controlling impulses.
ADHD can be managed in a number of ways usually including making changes to your lifestyle and taking medicinal treatments.
Away from her own health worries, Katie recently shared her concern’s about her eldest son, Harvey, who she revealed now weighs 188kg.
Having struggled with a variety of health issues throughout his life, the 22-year-old has Prader-Willi syndrome which increases a person’s hunger levels often leading to excessive eating.
Speaking about her son’s worrying weight levels, during a recent update on Snapchat, she said: “It’s so life-threatening now, I’m still waiting for the doctors to get back to me.
