After finding herself in the eye of the rumour mill this week online, Kerry Katona has cleared up her relationship status.
The former Atomic Kitten singer, 44, took to her weekly New! Magazine column after seeing a post on social media claiming she was in a relationship with close friend Katie Price.
The post, which was circulating on Facebook, read: “After the surpising news last week that singer Katie Price has come out as lesbian. She has now confirmed she’s dating former Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona. She says that Kerry fills the hole in her life that was always missing.”
Explaining there’s no truth to the joke post, Kerry said: “There’s a joke article going around Facebook that Katie Price and I are in a relationship, which I just want to confirm is definitely, definitely not true! I have no idea where it has come from but it’s quite hilarious, I’ve heard it all now.”
She added: “We are good friends, but I’m not sure we’d work so well together romantically. Plus, I’ve never been with a woman before. Although with the way my dating life is currently going, maybe it’s something to try out…”
Katie has been in a relationship with Married At First Sight star JJ Slater for over a year now. While Kerry has been single since splitting from her fiancé Ryan Mahoney in November, with the star now supported by friends as she navigates life getting back into the dating pool.
Kerry and Katie have a close friendship and often spend time together with their broods, with Katie and her eldest son Harvey celebrating Christmas at Kerry’s Cheshire home last year.
Last week, Kerry defended Katie in her weekly column when the latter found herself in hot water for promoting boxer Anthony Fowler’s claims that his brand, Supreme CBD, ‘cured’ his daughter’s tumour.
One video, shared to Katie’s Instagram, saw her sitting with Anthony’s partner, Serena Stregapede, who claimed that a tumour in their daughter Roma’s leg ‘shrunk’ after using the CBD products.
Many fans were unimpressed with the marketing and claims from Katie, leading to Kerry jumping to her defence.
She wrote: “I’ve seen that Supreme CBD has been getting lots of bad press over the last week since my friend Katie Price began promoting it and shared that it helped the owner Anthony Fowler’s daughter, who had a tumour in her leg. I’ve been working with the brand and Anthony, for years and I absolutely love it.
Kerry added: “No one is claiming that CBD can cure cancer, they are simply saying that it helped his daughter. I introduced Katie to the brand and, if I’m honest, I think people just like to be negative towards her, no matter what the situation is.”
