LG TV owners are in for a treat just in time for the festive season as LG has announced a significant update to its LG Channels platform. This update includes new features and additional free content, including shows from Sky, without the need for a subscription.
The latest update, which has started rolling out this month, allows users with specific LG screens to enjoy content from Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Vault, and Sky Sports Classics for free. Additionally, LG has recently included the Sky News channel in its free lineup.
In addition to these offerings, the update introduces more content options such as LG1 Christmas for holiday viewing, the FIFA+ Women Channel for soccer enthusiasts, and the DP World Tour for golf fans. All these new channels fall under the FAST (Free Ad-Supported Television) services category, meaning viewers will encounter advertisements during programs.
Apart from the new channels, the upgrade brings overall enhancements, including personalized content suggestions and an updated user interface for easier and quicker content discovery. A new “Quick Access” feature enables viewers to access channel information, TV guide, favorites, and popular content instantly by pressing the “OK” button on the LG Magic Remote while watching a program.
Chris Jo, Head of the webOS Platform Business Centre at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, highlighted that LG Channels aims to provide users with seamless access to high-quality content. The latest upgrade, featuring a new logo and enhanced personalization features, is geared towards making everyday viewing more intuitive and enjoyable for millions of users worldwide.
