Authorities have disclosed that a distressing incident involving the brutal rape, torture, and murder of three women was live-streamed on TikTok.
An investigation is underway following reports that approximately 45 individuals witnessed the heinous acts on a closed group within the social media platform. The disturbing scenes included one victim having her fingers amputated and another being suffocated with a plastic bag.
The victims have been identified as Lara Gutierrez, 15, Brenda del Castillo, 20, and Morena Verdi, 21. Reports suggest that the women were lured to a location on the outskirts of Buenos Aires under false pretenses after being accused of stealing drugs by a criminal organization.
The women were subjected to torture and ultimately killed in what is being referred to as a “revenge killing” allegedly orchestrated by the gang’s leader, a Peruvian national who is believed to have fled the country. The murders were reportedly ordered as a warning to others by the crime boss.
Javier Alonso, the security minister of Buenos Aires, confirmed that the distressing acts were recorded and broadcast live online to a limited audience. He stated, “It was for a closed group of around 45 people. That’s the information we have obtained so far from the investigation.”
The bodies of the three victims were discovered five days after their disappearance. The families were informed, and the bodies were found buried in a garden. Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the crime, and investigations to apprehend the masterminds are progressing swiftly.
Local media outlets have described the crime as a “narco act of revenge,” with suggestions that some of the victims were accused of stealing drugs from the gang. The horrendous details include Lara Gutierrez having her fingers amputated, Brenda Del Castillo sustaining a skull fracture, and Morena Verdi being asphyxiated with a plastic bag.
Authorities highlighted that the women were deceived into attending an event under false pretenses and met a tragic fate. The case has been deemed as one of the most disturbing and horrifying incidents by officials in Buenos Aires.
