Microsoft Azure Outage Disrupts Office 365 and Minecraft

-

Microsoft Azure users may face difficulties accessing Office 365, Minecraft, and other services as a result of cloud service issues, according to a statement by the technology giant on Wednesday. The company alerted users via its Azure status page that its teams are actively investigating problems concerning the Azure Front Door service and anticipate an improvement in service soon. While Microsoft has not yet provided a formal comment, it has acknowledged the situation on its status page and social media channels. The broad impact of such outages is notable since numerous websites and services rely on Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure.

Users have reported experiencing disruptions with various services including Office 365, Minecraft, X-Box Live, Costco, Starbucks’ mobile apps and websites, and Copilot, among others, on Downdetector, a platform that monitors online outages. These issues with Microsoft’s Azure platform follow a recent significant outage of Amazon’s cloud computing service, which affected a wide array of online services such as social media, gaming, food delivery, streaming, and financial platforms. These problems arose just prior to Microsoft’s scheduled quarterly earnings report.

Although Amazon leads in cloud computing services, Microsoft holds the second position, surpassing Google in most markets.
