Morrisons Slashes Price on 1L Baileys to £11

-

Morrisons has announced a price cut on 1L Baileys, dropping it to £11 just in time for the holiday season. The usual price of the bottle is £14, so this deal offers a £3 saving. The discounted price will be available until Sunday, November 2 in England and Wales, and no loyalty card is required to take advantage of the offer.

Comparatively, the same-sized Baileys is priced at £13.98 in Asda, £22 (£14 with a Nectar card) in Sainsbury’s, and £22.50 (£14 with a Clubcard) in Tesco. Last year, Morrisons reduced the price of Baileys to £8.50, but customers had to spend £45 and be a Morrisons More member to access that deal.

Sainsbury’s and Tesco also offered discounted Baileys at £10 last year for Nectar and Clubcard members. Baileys, known for its Irish cream liqueur made from whiskey, cream, cocoa, and vanilla, remains a popular choice during the festive season.

In other news, Morrisons is gearing up to convert numerous corner shops into Morrisons-branded convenience stores. The supermarket chain plans to launch 250 new Morrisons Daily convenience stores next year by allowing corner shop owners to rebrand their shops as Morrisons franchises. This initiative targets areas where Morrisons has limited presence, particularly in the south and the Midlands, signifying a notable acceleration of the supermarket’s growth strategy.

Morrisons is set to open around 160 convenience stores this year, with a spokesperson stating that their franchise model enables the addition of new stores quickly and efficiently. However, as part of its restructuring efforts, the supermarket chain is closing 103 stores, cafes, florists, and pharmacies this year. Closure of 17 Morrisons Daily convenience stores has already occurred, and more than 50 cafes, 13 florists, four pharmacies, and all 18 Market Kitchens will follow suit.

Additionally, 35 meat and fish counters are expected to permanently shut down as part of a comprehensive review by Morrisons, deeming these services not cost-effective. Chief Executive Rami Baitiéh highlighted the intention to collaborate with third parties to provide specialist offerings in stores where counters or cafes are closing, acknowledging the impact on affected colleagues.
