“NATO Jets Intercept Suspected Russian Spy Plane”

-

NATO has recently deployed jets for the third consecutive day following another instance of a Russian aircraft entering its airspace. The military alliance responded to a suspected spy plane sighting over the Baltic Sea today, as the aircraft seemed to be flying without a specific flight plan.

The German Delegation to NATO reported that the Il-20M took off from Russia and entered international airspace without establishing communication. Additionally, the aircraft failed to undergo visual identification, which is the standard procedure to confirm its identity.

The German Air Force, known as the Bundeswehr, initially detected the plane and later handed over the escort mission to NATO partners from Sweden.
