NordSpace is set to make another endeavor on Wednesday to carry out a rocket launch from St. Lawrence, Newfoundland and Labrador, marking Canada’s inaugural commercial rocket launch. The company is gearing up for a fresh attempt to launch its Taiga rocket, a six-meter tall spacecraft constructed using 3D-printed metal. The event will be broadcast live for viewers to witness. NordSpace has confirmed that both the launch pad and rocket are prepared for the upcoming launch. The launch window is scheduled to open at 6:30 a.m. NT, with optimal conditions anticipated to begin around 09:00 NDT. However, the company has indicated that the launch may transpire earlier than expected with short notice, as all systems will be on standby for an immediate launch. On Tuesday, NordSpace made two unsuccessful attempts to launch its rocket. The first attempt was aborted due to the presence of a small boat near the launch area. Subsequently, during the next attempt, just before the timer hit zero, smoke and fire emerged near the rocket’s base, halting the mission. CEO Rahul Goel clarified that the flames resulted from residual propellant on the launch pad, a common occurrence in rocket launches. NordSpace had previously made several launch attempts in late August, with the last one being called off 58 seconds before liftoff due to an ignition problem. The forthcoming launch, although suborbital, will not involve the rocket orbiting the Earth and will last approximately a minute before descending into the Atlantic Ocean.
