Three-time Olympian Michelle Plouffe has officially ended her career in international basketball. The 32-year-old athlete, hailing from Edmonton, represented Canada’s women’s basketball squads at both the 2012 London Games and the 2016 Rio Olympics. Additionally, she contributed to the team’s success by securing consecutive FIBA AmeriCup titles in 2015 and 2017.

Transitioning to 3×3 basketball, Plouffe, alongside her twin sister Katherine Plouffe, played a significant role in establishing and advancing the Canadian 3×3 basketball program. Noteworthy achievements include leading Canada to several victories in the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series, attaining a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and achieving a fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics.

Moving forward, Plouffe is slated to take on a new role within Canada Basketball as the 3×3 performance manager. A special tribute to her career is scheduled during the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Edmonton on August 2.

Reflecting on her career, Plouffe expressed, “This journey has always encompassed more than just basketball. It’s been about connections, purpose, and nurturing growth.” She emphasized the team’s approach, stating, “Our aim was not solely to be the top team globally but to foster a supportive environment. By sowing seeds of encouragement, trust, and love, we watched them flourish.”
