“Ovechkin Partners with Yandex for NHL Career Documentary”

-

Alex Ovechkin has teamed up with a technology company in Russia to create a film, series, or documentary chronicling his successful NHL career. Yandex, in collaboration with its streaming platform Kinopoisk, disclosed the partnership on Tuesday.

Having recently surpassed Wayne Gretzky’s career goals record, Ovechkin currently boasts 897 goals as he approaches the final season of his contract with the Washington Capitals. The 39-year-old, who hails from Moscow and initially played in the Russian league (now the KHL), has granted Yandex’s production label, Plus Studio, the rights to adapt his career story.

As part of the agreement, Ovechkin is expected to feature in advertisements and act as a brand ambassador for Yandex. Since being drafted by the Capitals in 2004 and making his debut in 2005, Ovechkin has remained with the team throughout his entire career. He has been the franchise’s prominent figure, serving as captain since January 2010 and earning the playoff MVP title in 2018 when he led the Capitals to their first Stanley Cup victory.

In addition to his collaboration with Yandex, Ovechkin is anticipated to participate in commercials and promotional activities. The Russian star is set to turn 40 next month, adding another milestone to his illustrious career.
