A woman labeled as a “psychopath” has admitted to poisoning 10 dogs while adjusting the levels of a toxic substance she planned to use in a killing spree. In a separate incident, a 65-year-old man passed away after consuming a “toxic bean stew,” sparking suspicions of foul play beyond mere food poisoning.
Investigations suggest a sinister collaboration between the victim’s daughter and another woman, Ana Paula Veloso, to murder him using poison and shift blame onto an unsuspecting individual. Allegedly, the victim and his daughter had a strained relationship, and both women were present at the property on the night the man fell ill in Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Authorities claim Veloso’s involvement in three additional deaths, dubbing her a “serial killer.” She reportedly confessed to poisoning 10 dogs as part of her trial runs to perfect the poison’s timing and dosage for the intended victim, ensuring the death would not appear as a poisoning incident.
Police chief Halisson Ideiao disclosed that Veloso meticulously planned the killings by methodically testing the poison on the dogs. Further evidence was found in Veloso’s possession of terbufos, a rat poison slightly less potent than lead, and incriminating text messages exchanged between Veloso and the victim’s daughter discussing the murder scheme.
The elaborate conspiracy possibly extends to Veloso’s twin sister Roberta, who allegedly provided support for the crimes. Veloso was allegedly paid by the victim’s daughter to execute the murders, with the police chief stating that Veloso poisoned four individuals, including the victim, on the daughter’s orders.
The police chief emphasized the similarities in the behavior of the accused individuals, pointing out their use of closeness, manipulation, and poison as a silent weapon in their crimes. Neil, the victim, passed away on April 26, and authorities plan to exhume his body for further forensic examination.
Additionally, Veloso is accused of attempting to frame an innocent person by feigning victimhood in a separate incident involving a poisoned cake. Investigative findings revealed that Veloso was not a victim but rather a calculated serial killer.
