“Ryder Cup Players React to Trump’s Potential Attendance”

-

Players from the USA team in the Ryder Cup have shared their thoughts on the potential impact of President Donald Trump’s presence at the upcoming event. The Team USA, led by Keegan Bradley, will be competing against Team Europe, captained by Luke Donald, at Bethpage Black in New York.

Two members of the USA team, Bryson DeChambeau and Sam Burns, have discussed the likelihood of Trump attending the tournament on Friday, the opening day. Trump is anticipated to be in attendance at Bethpage Black in New York for the start of the competition.

On Thursday evening, both captains will reveal their pairings for the foursomes, with the matches commencing on Friday morning (midday UK time). DeChambeau, a player on the LIV Golf tour since 2023, has emphasized the potential impact of the US president’s presence on himself and his teammates.

DeChambeau expressed his optimism, stating, “I hope it will motivate us to win. I believe it will rally a large number of supporters for us. The atmosphere is expected to be highly charged.”

Burns, another American player, is excited about the opportunity to compete in the Ryder Cup with President Trump in attendance. This will be Burns’ second appearance in the tournament since his debut two years ago in Rome.

Speaking to reporters, Burns remarked, “It’s a great honor to have our President support our team at this event. We are here to represent our country and the United States, and having the President with us is a significant moment. We are all looking forward to it.”

Team Europe is aiming to defend the trophy they claimed in Rome in 2023. They secured a dominant 16.5-11.5 victory over Team USA on home soil in the previous edition of the tournament.

In their most recent encounter on American turf in 2021, Team Europe suffered a heavy 19-9 defeat at Whistling Straits against Team USA. Europe’s last Ryder Cup win in the United States dates back to the memorable Miracle at Medinah in 2012.
