Mark Scheifele made history by scoring a power-play goal in the first period to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night. The Jets’ assistant captain netted his sixth goal of the season at 2:39, marking his 813th career point and surpassing Blake Wheeler. Alex Iafallo provided the assist.

In addition to Scheifele’s goal, Vladislav Namestnikov, Logan Stanley, and Nino Niederreiter also found the back of the net for Winnipeg. Namestnikov and Niederreiter contributed assists, while Jonathan Toews had two assists. Nashville’s lone goal came from Michael Bunting with just over a minute remaining in the game.

Niederreiter added to the lead with a goal midway through the first period, finishing off a breakaway opportunity set up by Namestnikov.
