Senators’ Captain Brady Tkachuk to Miss 6-8 Weeks

-

The Ottawa Senators’ captain, Brady Tkachuk, is set to miss six to eight weeks following a surgical procedure on his right thumb, as confirmed by the NHL franchise on Thursday. Prior to the surgery, team owner Michael Andlauer had mentioned in New York that Tkachuk was seeking a second opinion regarding the necessity of the operation.

Tkachuk sustained the injury after being cross-checked into the boards by Nashville’s Roman Josi early in Monday night’s game. Despite initially staying in the game, the 26-year-old American winger eventually exited during the third period.

With the surgery completed, Tkachuk is projected to make a comeback in late November or early December, well in advance of the Milan-Cortina Olympics in February. Both Tkachuk and his brother Matthew, who plays for the Florida Panthers and is also recovering from an injury, have been selected for the U.S. roster for the upcoming Olympics.
