Charges of rape and attempted murder have been brought against a 10-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy after a vicious assault on a five-year-old child that left the victim unrecognizable, as per authorities.
The victim’s mother recounted that she had dropped off her daughter at a relative’s residence in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 13, but the child somehow managed to wander outside and was reportedly attacked by a group of children there.
Prosecutors in Cuyahoga County have disclosed that two children are facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, rape, assault, kidnapping, and strangulation. The mother of the girl described the distressing scene she encountered as “unbelievable,” stating, “I literally witnessed the most horrifying thing! I saw my daughter unrecognizable.
“I couldn’t comprehend it.” She informed Cleveland 19, “My daughter was unrecognizable. Her hair was torn from her head. She had bruises and blood all over her body.
“Her eyes were bloodshot. Her lips and mouth were bloody. Her nails were filled with debris and dirt.”
According to a report by KPLC, the victim’s mother mentioned that the incident had left her daughter physically, emotionally, and mentally traumatized. She stated that the child is currently undergoing therapy. “I just want her to regain some sense of normalcy as a five-year-old again,” the mother expressed.
The prosecutor’s office declared, “Due to the sensitive nature of this case, we are refraining from disclosing any further details and abstaining from further comments.”
Law enforcement had previously stated, “The Cleveland Division of Police Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit is actively investigating a case involving multiple children under ten years old, both as victims and suspects in the investigation.
“Due to the delicate nature of the situation, releasing additional information at this time could compromise the integrity of the investigation and infringe on the constitutional rights and privacy of those involved.” The investigation is still ongoing.
This development follows a case where a couple allegedly sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl and confined her with her deceased sister after killing their mother.
Daniel Callihan, aged 37, admitted to fatally stabbing his former partner Callie Brunett, 35, over 50 times before abducting her older daughter and her four-year-old sibling.
He transported the girls more than 130 miles to Mississippi, where he and his accomplice Victoria Cox, 34, detained the six-year-old girl as a “sex-slave,” as per a statement of facts signed by Callihan following his guilty plea to federal charges in August.
