Steve Nash Joins Phoenix Suns as Senior Adviser

-

Former Phoenix Suns standout Steve Nash is set to join the team as a senior adviser, as per an announcement made by owner Mat Ishbia on Monday. Ishbia expressed his admiration for Nash, highlighting the player’s qualities that align with the Suns’ values, including his determination, resilience, and winning mindset. Nash, hailing from Victoria, enjoyed tremendous success during his time with the Suns, securing consecutive MVP awards in 2005 and 2006. The accomplished eight-time All-Star was enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.

At 51 years old, Nash previously served as the head coach for the Brooklyn Nets for over two seasons, achieving a record of 94 wins and 67 losses before his dismissal in 2022 following a slow start to the season. The Suns faced a challenging season last year, finishing with a lackluster 36-46 record. However, they underwent significant roster changes in the offseason, parting ways with star player Kevin Durant in a trade to the Houston Rockets and terminating Bradley Beal’s contract. Nash’s addition as a senior adviser is anticipated to play a key role in shaping the Suns’ trajectory for the foreseeable future.
