Superstar Taylor Swift made a significant announcement on Tuesday, revealing her 12th studio album, titled “The Life of a Showgirl.” With an impressive collection of 14 Grammy awards, including four for album of the year, Swift shared the news during a podcast episode featuring her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce.
Speaking on the “New Heights” podcast on Instagram, Swift unveiled the cover of her new album while disclosing its title. The full podcast episode is scheduled for release at 7 p.m. ET. Although the official album release date is yet to be announced, fans can already pre-order the vinyl version for $30, the cassette for $20, and a CD with a poster of Swift for $13 on her website.
This announcement follows Swift’s acquisition of the master recordings of her first six albums in May, granting her full control of her music catalog after a dispute with her former record label. Her previous album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” set records by selling 2.61 million units during its debut week in the U.S., earning the title of the largest streaming and sales week for an album on vinyl in modern times.
Additionally, Spotify reported that “Poets” became the most-streamed album in a single week, surpassing 1 billion streams. Alongside Swift, other top artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Ed Sheeran are also gearing up to release new albums in the coming months.
With her groundbreaking Eras Tour, which exceeded $1 billion in revenue, Swift continues to make waves in the music industry. Her impact on local economies during the tour has even led economists to coin the term “Swiftflation,” describing the temporary price surges in sectors such as hotels, dining, travel, and entertainment.
