The body of a third hiker, initially presumed deceased after falling over a waterfall in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, has been discovered. Authorities in Kimberley, B.C., have located the 35-year-old man, and efforts are underway to recover his body. The hiker was part of a trio that went over Meachen Creek Falls during the Labour Day weekend. A 68-year-old woman’s body was found halfway down the 85-meter falls on September 1st, following an alert from a GPS SOS signal. Subsequently, the body of a 35-year-old woman was located and retrieved the next day.
In a statement released by the police on Sunday, it was revealed that all three individuals were Mexican citizens. Authorities had previously stated that none of the deaths were considered suspicious. The search for the hikers involved Kimberley Search and Rescue, drones, police dogs, and Big Horn helicopters.
