“Three Mobile Tops UK Network Speeds, 5G Leader”

-

The latest speed tests from Ookla have revealed that Three Mobile has emerged as the top UK network for fast download speeds, surpassing its competitors. According to Ookla, Three achieved an average download speed of 214Mbps, outperforming its closest rival by over 80Mbps. This speed is twice as fast as the UK’s fixed-line broadband average.

In the rankings, Three secured the top spot, followed by Vodafone in second place and EE in third. O2 lagged behind, offering the slowest speeds overall. Ookla confirmed these results, stating that Three is the Fastest 5G Network in the United Kingdom for Q3–Q4 2025.

Here is a snapshot of the Ookla results:

– Overall Speed Score:
– Three: 53.46
– Vodafone: 43.05
– EE: 36.73
– O2: 30.70

– Median download speeds:
– Three: 214Mbps
– Vodafone: 129.78Mbps
– EE: 97Mbps
– O2: 78.92Mbps

– Median upload speeds:
– Three: 13.8Mbps
– Vodafone: 10.78Mbps
– EE: 10.96Mbps
– O2: 8.28Mbps

While these results highlight Three’s lead, it’s important to note that mobile network testing can be challenging due to users’ movement between different locations and varying network conditions. Despite this, Three’s performance is commendable, and its merger with Vodafone could further enhance its capabilities. The newly combined entity, VodafoneThree, aims to invest £11 billion to establish the UK’s premier mobile network.

Since the merger, VodafoneThree has initiated the integration of the two networks using Multi-Operator Core Network technology. This integration allows seamless connectivity between Vodafone and Three networks at no extra cost, potentially improving coverage and performance nationwide.
