A dad has been arrested after his three-month-old son was discovered dead in a Travelodge hotel room.

Jerry Chambers Jr. , 21, from Georgia, was apprehended by police in January 2025 after his three-month-old child, Joshua, was found deceased within a Travelodge hotel room in College Park, Georgia. He refuted claims that he left his baby son but the findings of an autopsy contradict his claims.

ABC affiliate WSB procured an affidavit which disclosed that Chambers had asserted he discovered Joshua unresponsive in the hotel room where they lodged. Chambers reported to authorities that upon finding his son, the infant was “unresponsive and foaming at the mouth.”

Chambers alleged that he “attempted to resuscitate [him], but he remained unresponsive”, reports the Express US.

But according to police official’s statements, despite observing his son’s grave condition, Chambers chose not to notify emergency services and instead went to work, leaving Joshua behind in the hotel room.

Upon returning and seeing Joshua still “unresponsive”, Chambers “packed a bag” and made no attempts to call for help. WSB stated that authorities belive that Chambers delayed alerting anyone for help about two days after encountering his child lifeless.

Following the discovery of the deceased toddler on January 28, he faced arrest under murder and child cruelty charges. The autopsy results from the Fulton County Medical Examiner corroborated the officials’ suspicions. They informed WSB that the cause of Joshua’s death was “dehydration and undernourishment due to infant neglect,” with homicide declared as the manner of death.

Chambers is currently detained in the Fulton County Jail, with a bond set at $150,000.

It comes after a couple were charged with murder after their young daughter died with large amounts of ethanol in her system. Investigators said Talbert corroborated Smith’s story and told authorities that their child was not sick and had zero preexisting conditions.
