The families of Israeli hostages being held in Gaza received uplifting news when Donald Trump personally informed them that their loved ones would soon be returning home.
A group of around a dozen Israeli relatives engaged in discussions with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick following a significant breakthrough where Hamas agreed to the initial phase of Trump’s peace proposal.
As per the agreement, Israeli forces are set to retreat to the “yellow line” by tomorrow, initiating a 72-hour period during which Hamas can release the hostages in exchange for the freedom of Palestinian detainees. The exchange is scheduled to take place on Monday.
During the conversation with the families, Lutnick inquired, “What message do you have for President Trump?” prompting an enthusiastic chorus of gratitude from the group.
Trump, speaking via speakerphone, expressed his appreciation, and one family member exclaimed, “You did it!” Another family member conveyed their trust in Trump’s commitment to bringing every one of the 48 hostages back home, acknowledging his ongoing efforts for peace.
Assuring the families, Trump stated, “The hostages will return; they are all coming back on Monday.”
The atmosphere in Hostages Square in central Tel Aviv was filled with celebration as news of the imminent return of the hostages spread. Supporters, families of hostages, and previously released captives gathered in joyous anticipation.
Amidst tears of happiness and embraces, the crowd erupted with cheers as Einav Zangauker, a leading advocate for the hostages’ release, jubilantly announced, “Matan is coming home!” expressing her longing to reunite with her captive son.
Israel confirmed that out of the 250 individuals initially taken captive, 20 hostages remain alive in Gaza, while 28 have tragically lost their lives. Families eagerly await the return of their loved ones, with messages of hope and gratitude circulating on social media platforms.
Former captive Omer Wenkert expressed overwhelming emotions at the prospect of the deal, anticipating a wave of joy to sweep the nation upon the hostages’ safe return.
