Vogue Williams and Spencer Matthews in ‘stressful situation’ as concerns over marriage grows

Must read

Married couple Vogue Williams and Spencer Matthews failed to mark their wedding anniversary on social media, yet speculation around their relationship has heightened as they have admitted to having “tiffs” with each other. Model Vogue sparked concern when she failed to publicly mark their fifth wedding anniversary.

Just a year earlier, she had posted a gushing tribute about life as husband and wife. Fans became concerned all was not well for the reality TV couple, and rumours only started to swirl again when they made a series of public digs at each other. The Made in Chelsea star, 36, found his marriage to Vogue, 39, under scrutiny last week when the mum-of-three revealed how they separate domestic work.

Vogue confessed that she’s the one pulling more weight at home, saying: “In the nicest way possible, I would say I fix the broken radiator and I do the school run. I would say I do 80 percent of what (goes on). We’ve actually been having a slight little tiff about that this morning, about the stuff that I do”. Cracking up, Vogue added: “I’ve had enough today”.

Speaking on her own podcast, Vogue spilled on parenting too, dishing on how their son Otto’s recent early morning wake-up call left Spencer “raging”. Vogue, who was previously married to Westlife’s Brian McFadden from 2012 to 2017, quipped: “You think I’m obsessed with my sleep, Spenny gets up and was like, ‘I’m already in a sleep deficit, I need to get back to sleep’.”

To their added pressure, the couple are keen to move to a bigger home and have had to slash the price on their Battersea apartment. According to reports, they purchased the lavish property in 2018 for a staggering £5.25million but have slashed the asking price to £4.75million.

In an attempt to give clarity on their marriage, a friend of Vogue and Spencer told the Daily Mail: “There’s a lot going on with Vogue and Spencer at the moment. It’s a stressful situation for them.”

Vogue and Spencer are raising their three children – Theodore, now six, Gigi, four, and Otto, two – as well as running their own businesses. Spencer has hit own alcohol-free spirits company as well as his own podcast, while Vogue focuses on her fake tan business and her lucrative Fairy deal.

The couple met back in 2017 when they both appeared on Channel 4 series The Jump. Vogue’s marriage to Brian McFadden had just ended and initially turned Spencer down when he asked her on a date. She eventually relented, with many not surprised she has ended up with Spencer.

The Made in Chelsea star is very well connected thanks to his multi-millionaire parents and attended the same school as Prince William. His royal connection doesn’t end there, as his older brother James is married to Pippa Middleton, the sister of the Princess of Wales.

Vogue’s previous marriage to Brian did increase her profile, which she is said to have a “knack” for. “She has always known what she wanted,” a source told the publication. “She’s from fairly humble beginnings in Ireland but she knew how to make herself stand out. First it was Brian and then it was a husband who had links to the Royal family. Let’s hope it doesn’t end in tears.”

It’s not just Spencer’s marriage to Vogue that has faced concerns from the public, as his friendship with Made in Chelsea co-star Jamie Laing has also come under the spotlight. The once inseparable pair have rarely been seen together and shocked fans when their joint podcast, 6 Degrees, abruptly ended in November.

Spencer has also remained silent on Jamie’s ultra marathons for Comic Relief. Just two years ago, Spencer was the master of ceremonies at Jamie and wife Sophie Habboo’s wedding – that Vogue missed. A source claimed: “Jamie’s run is perhaps the biggest thing he will ever do in his life – surely he must be missing his friend.

“You now have to wonder what has happened to cause a change in their relationship. Whatever went on, it caused a lot of friction. It’s still being referred to amongst their unforgiving circle.”

The Mirror has contacted Vogue and Spencer’s representatives for comment.
