“WhatsApp Unveils Instant Message Translation Feature”

-

WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that will allow users to instantly translate messages across different languages. The messaging service, with over 3 billion users in 180 countries, aims to keep users connected globally. The feature will enable users to overcome language barriers and enhance communication efficiency.

The translation feature will be gradually deployed starting today. Users will have the option to translate messages by simply pressing the screen. WhatsApp highlighted that users can long-press a message in a foreign language and select ‘Translate’ to switch languages. This functionality will be available for individual and group chats, as well as Channel updates.

Android users will also have the ability to enable automatic translation for entire chat threads, ensuring incoming messages are translated automatically. The rollout of message translations will commence for Android and iPhone users in select languages, with more to be added later.

For Android users, the feature will support six languages initially, including English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic. iPhone users will have access to the feature in over 19 languages. WhatsApp expressed hope that this enhancement will facilitate deeper connections between users worldwide by breaking down language barriers.
