2026 Uswitch Awards: Surprising Wins for Budget Mobile Networks

The annual Uswitch awards were recently presented at a glamorous event in Canary Wharf, London, revealing some unexpected winners. These accolades are determined by a panel of esteemed judges, including Mirror Online’s Technology Editor, in addition to input from the public. Surprisingly, smaller, budget-focused mobile networks emerged victorious in the 2026 Uswitch rankings.

VOXI, Tesco Mobile, Lebara, and giffgaff stood out with their achievements in categories such as Mobile Network of the Year, Best Mobile Network for Customer Service, and Best Mobile Network for Roaming.

In the broadband sector, EE claimed the top spot, despite its reputation for mobile services, winning the title of National Broadband Provider of the Year. Other broadband champions included YouFibre, Plusnet, Vodafone, and Virgin Media.

Ernest Doku, a telecoms expert at Uswitch, highlighted the shift in consumer preferences towards value-driven mobile providers and emphasized the importance of reliability in broadband services, especially for those working remotely.

The Uswitch Telecoms Awards aim to guide customers in finding the best deals tailored to their needs, whether focusing on affordability or specific requirements. The winners across various categories showcase the industry’s commitment to delivering quality service and value.

Some of the notable winners include EE for National Broadband Provider of the Year, YouFibre for Regional Broadband Provider of the Year, Plusnet for Best Broadband Provider for Customer Service, Vodafone for Best Value for Money Broadband Provider, Virgin for Most Reliable Broadband Provider, VOXI for Mobile Network of the Year, Tesco for Best Mobile Network for Customer Service, and giffgaff for Best Mobile Handset Contract Network, among others.
