Cloudflare, an internet infrastructure company, announced on Friday that they were investigating a disruption that occurred earlier in the day, impacting various global websites such as LinkedIn and Zoom. This incident marked the second outage for Cloudflare in less than three weeks.
The company stated that the issue has been resolved and that they were looking into problems with the Cloudflare Dashboard and associated APIs, which facilitate communication between software systems. Cloudflare clarified that the outage was not a result of a cyber attack. They attributed the network unavailability to a modification in their firewall’s request-handling process.
Users also encountered difficulties accessing the website during the disruption. In a similar event in November, a Cloudflare outage affected users of services like ChatGPT and the online game “League of Legends,” as well as the New Jersey Transit system.
In a separate incident last month, Microsoft had to address an outage in their Azure cloud portal, affecting access to Office 365, Minecraft, and other services. The tech giant disclosed on its Azure status page that a configuration alteration in its Azure infrastructure caused the disruption.
Furthermore, Amazon faced a significant outage of its cloud computing service in October.
