“Greek Tourism Hit by String of Assaults”

-

A female British tourist has reported being sexually assaulted by a hotel employee during her stay in Greece. The incident occurred on the Greek island of Kos, where the 45-year-old woman alleged that a 42-year-old male employee, believed to be of Nigerian nationality, attacked her in her hotel room around 7pm on a Monday. The tourist, who admitted to drinking, claimed that the employee took advantage of her intoxicated state.

Authorities on the popular resort island swiftly launched a search for the suspect and subsequently apprehended him. He is currently in custody awaiting a court appearance before the Kos District Court prosecutor.

This incident follows a series of other reported sexual assaults against tourists in Greece earlier this year. In one instance, a tourist visiting Rhodes accused her masseuse of inappropriate behavior during a massage at a hotel in Kremasti, causing her discomfort. The tourist later lodged a legal complaint regarding the alleged assault.

Additionally, a teenage British girl alleged that she was raped in the sea in front of a crowded beach on Rhodes while on vacation with her family. The 16-year-old victim and her father reported the incident to the authorities, leading to the arrest of a 15-year-old boy from Belgium. The suspect claimed that the encounter was consensual, stating they were both guests at the same resort.

The arrested individual has been presented to the island’s Public Prosecutor, who has forwarded the case to an investigating officer for further legal action.
