The latest Canadian Screen Award nominations for 2026 include a diverse array of standout productions. Leading the pack with 20 nominations is the CBC, Netflix, and APTN collaboration, “North of North,” starring Anna Lambe. This groundbreaking comedy series explores the life of a young Inuk mother navigating a public divorce.

Not far behind is the globally acclaimed “Heated Rivalry,” securing an impressive 18 nods, including best drama series and nominations for François Arnaud and Hudson Williams in leading roles. The awards also introduced a new rule in 2026, restricting nominations to Canadian citizens and permanent residents only.

In the film category, R.T. Thorne’s sci-fi thriller “40 Acres” garnered 10 nominations, while “Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie” surprised audiences with its unique storyline about time-traveling musicians. The Canadian film industry faced challenges in recent years, but television hits like “Schitt’s Creek” and “Heated Rivalry” have boosted Canada’s cultural exports.

The Canadian Screen Awards ceremony, hosted by Andrew Phung, is set for May 31, featuring a simultaneous broadcast across CBC, Bell Media, and Corus platforms. This year’s nominees span various categories, showcasing the talent and diversity of Canadian entertainment.
