“24 Schoolgirls Rescued in Nigeria Abduction Crisis”

-

All 24 schoolgirls who were taken by armed individuals from a school in Kebbi, located in northwestern Nigeria, have been rescued, as announced by the president of the country on Tuesday. The abduction occurred on November 17, with initial reports indicating 25 students were abducted, but the latest statement from President Bola Tinubu confirmed the rescue of all 24 students. Specific details regarding the rescue operation were not disclosed.

President Tinubu emphasized the importance of deploying additional security personnel in vulnerable areas to prevent future incidents of kidnapping. The incident in Kebbi is part of a series of mass abductions that have taken place in Nigeria recently.

In a separate attack, a Catholic school in north-central Niger state was targeted, resulting in the abduction of over 300 students and staff members. Fortunately, fifty students managed to escape over the weekend, highlighting the severity of the situation.

The wave of mass kidnappings in Nigeria has raised concerns and led to school closures, with accusations of government corruption surfacing.
