“Samsung ends software support for Galaxy S21 models”

-

Samsung Galaxy smartphone owners should take note of recent changes in software support. Samsung has officially discontinued updates for the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra models. These phones will no longer receive crucial software updates, including security patches. While major Android upgrades are usually released annually, the security patches are essential for ongoing protection against vulnerabilities and data breaches. If you own one of these models released in 2021, it is advisable to consider upgrading for enhanced security measures.

Samsung had initially promised four years of Android updates and five years of security updates for the S21 series, which have now expired in 2026. In contrast, newer models like the Galaxy S25 offer extended support with seven years of both Android and security updates, ensuring longevity for device owners.

However, the Galaxy S21 FE is an exception as it continues to receive quarterly security updates for at least another year. For those contemplating an upgrade, Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy S26 series soon, possibly by February 25. The new series is expected to bring improvements in performance, camera quality, design, and battery life.
