Celebrity Traitors actor Joe Marler recently shared that he faced a personal tragedy during the filming of the popular show. His partner, Daisy, experienced the loss of her grandmother while they were involved in the production.
The 35-year-old recounted how this heartbreaking event initially led him to consider leaving the program. However, after a discussion with his wife, he decided to stay and channel his emotions into his performance, resulting in his notably confrontational and controversial behavior during the show’s round-table segments.
Marler explained that the producers were understanding of his situation when he expressed his intention to quit after the loss. Despite the challenges, he persevered, supported by Daisy’s encouragement to stay committed until his eventual elimination from the competition.
Throughout the series, despite facing criticism for lackluster performances, Marler managed to progress to the final rounds, displaying an astute ability to identify fellow traitors. In a tense finale, his strategic moves led to the elimination of one traitor but ultimately resulted in his own departure from the show. The ultimate winner was Alan Carr.
Regarding the show’s payment structure, Marler revealed discrepancies in the reported £40,000 fee that participants allegedly received. Contrary to initial reports, he clarified that not all contestants were compensated equally, indicating that he personally received a lower amount.
Reflecting on his experiences on the show, Marler expressed admiration for his fellow contestants, particularly Nick Mohammed, and praised the ultimate winner, Alan Carr. Despite the challenges he faced, Marler appreciated the opportunity and remained positive about his overall experience on the program.
