Tragic Brampton Shooting Leads to Fatalities

-

Savannah Rose Kulla-Davies tragically lost her life after meeting her ex-partner in a Brampton plaza. Her father expressed deep sorrow over her untimely death, emphasizing that he would not have allowed her to go if he had known it would be their final meeting. The 29-year-old was shot and killed by her ex-partner, Anthony Deschepper, who then abducted their 17-month-old daughter, leading to an Amber Alert. Deschepper was later fatally shot by police in Niagara Falls.

According to family members, it seemed like a regular day for Kulla-Davies before the tragic incident. She went to Starbucks for a drink before heading to the Brampton plaza to meet her ex-partner, where now, tributes in the form of flowers are being laid in her memory.

Deschepper’s motive for meeting Kulla-Davies was to spend time with their daughter, reflecting her compassionate nature, as her father described. Kulla-Davies, who was passionate about dance and worked as a social worker, transitioned to motherhood with four children, whom she loved dearly.

The incident was not the first involving Deschepper and firearms, as he faced previous firearm charges related to an incident in 2023 with Kulla-Davies as the complainant. Despite being out on bail, Deschepper allegedly committed the fatal act, prompting criticism of the justice system by Kulla-Davies’s father.

An ongoing investigation by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is looking into Deschepper’s death, while another woman found with him has been charged as an accessory to murder. The tragic events have sparked calls for stricter bail reforms, with officials highlighting the need for changes in the system to prevent similar tragedies.
