Renowned actor Timothy Busfield, known for his roles in popular series like “West Wing” and “Field of Dreams,” is facing serious legal trouble as he has been officially charged with four counts of criminal sexual contact involving a minor under 13 years old in New Mexico. These allegations stem from his time as a director on the TV show “The Cleaning Lady” between 2022 and 2024.
Despite the accusations brought forward by law enforcement, Busfield has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, with his defense attorney asserting that he will vigorously contest the charges at every legal juncture. The grand jury indictment, disclosed by Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman via social media, now sets the stage for a potential trial without the need for a preliminary court hearing to assess the evidence.
In response to the indictment, Larry Stein, Busfield’s legal representative, refrained from directly addressing the specific charges but highlighted that grooming charges were not endorsed by the grand jury as requested by the prosecution. Stein emphasized that critical deficiencies in the state’s evidence were exposed during a detention hearing, casting doubt on the case against Busfield.
The initial police complaint outlined incidents where Busfield allegedly touched the private areas of a young boy on multiple occasions, prompting further investigation and legal action.
