Barry Manilow to Undergo Lung Surgery, Concerts Rescheduled

-

Barry Manilow, aged 82, revealed on Monday that he will undergo surgery to remove a cancerous spot detected on his lung, leading to the rescheduling of his January concerts. The discovery was made by doctors following an extended period of bronchitis lasting six weeks, with a subsequent relapse of five weeks. Manilow shared on Instagram that an MRI ordered by his doctor identified the cancerous spot on his left lung, emphasizing the fortunate early detection facilitated by medical intervention.

Despite the diagnosis, Manilow conveyed optimism as doctors have indicated that the cancer has not spread, eliminating the need for chemotherapy or radiation. He humorously mentioned that his recovery plan includes indulging in chicken soup and watching reruns of “I Love Lucy.” A statement from Manilow’s representatives confirmed that the tumor is at stage one and disclosed that the surgical procedure is scheduled for late December.

Following the surgery, Manilow will dedicate January to recuperation and aims to resume his performances with concerts scheduled for the Valentine’s weekend starting February 12 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. His arena concerts are set to recommence on February 28 in Tampa, Florida, after being postponed from January. The artist was originally slated to perform in 10 concerts across nine venues in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Ohio, all of which have been rescheduled to February dates.
