A close friend of Meghan Markle’s former husband shared his initial reaction upon learning about her relationship with Prince Harry. Meghan was previously married to film producer Trevor Engelson for nearly three years before they divorced in 2014. Their divorce was finalized two years prior to Meghan meeting Harry in 2016 through mutual acquaintances.
Bethenny Frankel, an original cast member of Real Housewives of New York and a self-proclaimed friend of Trevor, disclosed that Trevor was certain Meghan and Harry would eventually marry as soon as he found out about their courtship. Indeed, after less than two years of dating, Harry and Meghan tied the knot in a grand ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, with the entire Royal Family and various celebrities in attendance.
Bethenny shared on The Toast podcast that she had met Trevor years ago at a bar and occasionally corresponded with him. Their conversations included mentions of Meghan, with Trevor confirming she was his ex from the show Suits. When photos surfaced of Harry dating someone, Bethenny messaged Trevor, suspecting it might be Meghan. Trevor confirmed and expressed his belief that she would marry Harry.
Following his split from Meghan, Trevor went on to marry Tracey Kurland, a nutritionist and heiress. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Ford Grace Engelson, in August 2020, followed by another daughter named Sienna Lee Engelson in November 2021, and a son named Logan Stanford Engelson earlier this year.
According to Andrew Morton’s book, Meghan, A Hollywood Princess, Meghan and Trevor initially met at a dive bar while she was starting her acting career. Their marriage began to show strain shortly after their wedding, leading to an unexpected separation for Trevor, who reportedly went from adoring Meghan to feeling marginalized in the relationship.
At the time of their separation, Meghan and Trevor were living in different cities due to their respective work commitments. Meghan spent extended periods in Toronto for filming Suits, while Trevor resided in Los Angeles.
