“Starmer Condemns Russian-Backed Attack in London”

-

Keir Starmer has emphasized the threat posed by Vladimir Putin’s government to the safety of Britons following a Russian-backed attack on a warehouse in London. Standing alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Starmer condemned the recent sentencing of six individuals involved in the arson attack on a warehouse storing humanitarian aid and satellite equipment destined for Ukraine.

Addressing a press conference, he underscored the significance of collective security, stating that the events in Donetsk today will have long-term implications for all. Starmer accused Putin of prolonging the conflict by targeting civilians and critical infrastructure, such as energy facilities.

The arson, orchestrated by British national Dylan Earl on behalf of the Wagner paramilitary group, was deemed part of a broader campaign of terrorism and sabotage in support of the Russian state. Earl received a 17-year prison sentence for the attack, which caused significant damage to a warehouse owned by a Ukrainian couple supplying satellite communication devices to Ukraine.

Zelensky urged allies to stand firm against Russia’s aggression, emphasizing the importance of not rewarding the aggressor or enabling future hostilities. Starmer echoed these sentiments, rejecting Putin’s unreasonable demands and highlighting the unity among more than 30 nations supporting Ukraine in seeking a just and lasting peace.

The coalition of nations, along with the United States, remains resolute in their commitment to ending the conflict and supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty. Despite Putin’s obstructionism, the international community stands united in advocating for a peaceful resolution and rejecting any attempts to redraw borders through force.
