A large number of applications and services typically require a monthly subscription fee for their usage, and it seems that WhatsApp could soon adopt this model. The team at WABetaInfo has noticed that the chat application owned by Meta is working on an upgrade called WhatsApp Plus.
This new version is expected to introduce exclusive updates and features, such as the ability to pin up to 20 chats (up from the current limit of 3) and enhanced customization options including changing the app’s theme, icon, and accent colors.
Users may also enjoy additional benefits like bonus stickers, access to extra ringtones, and more immersive reactions for chat replies. WABetaInfo explained that WhatsApp is developing a premium subscription plan named “WhatsApp Plus” for its standard consumer app. This plan is currently in development for both Android and iOS platforms and has not been officially released yet.
In addition to the initial features, Meta may introduce more enhancements over time for users willing to pay for the premium subscription. While WhatsApp has not confirmed these reports, test versions of the Plus app have been identified by WABetaInfo, indicating ongoing development.
It is important to note that the free version of WhatsApp will remain available, and users will not be compelled to subscribe. The premium subscription will serve as an optional bonus for users interested in paying a monthly fee.
Stay tuned for further updates on WhatsApp Plus as more information is expected to be revealed in the near future.
