“UKTV Free-to-Air Channels Coming to Samsung TVs”

-

Samsung TV owners in the UK are set to receive a significant upgrade at no extra cost, providing them with a wealth of additional content. UKTV has officially announced that its popular free-to-air linear channels will soon be accessible on Samsung screens, allowing UK viewers to enjoy content without the need for extra devices for the first time.

The channels will be delivered via the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial setup. In addition, Samsung will introduce a dedicated rail on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it easier for users to discover and watch classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows without navigating through menus or settings.

In the upcoming months, channels like U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&Yesterday, U&W, and U&Eden will be easily accessible through a direct link from Samsung’s Universal Guide to the U app.

Samsung anticipates that this rollout will reach millions of its TVs, with the channels appearing in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide to ensure UKTV’s live and on-demand content remains prominently featured for viewers who rely solely on internet-based TV.

Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed that this new agreement reinforces the strong partnership between UKTV and Samsung, enhancing accessibility to the U app and ensuring the visibility of UKTV’s diverse content across video-on-demand and live channels.

Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, emphasized the importance of UKTV in enriching the entertainment offerings on Samsung TVs, aiming to provide customers with a superior entertainment experience by granting access to a wide array of broadcast content.

Despite the absence of an exact launch date, the enhanced features are expected to be integrated into Samsung TVs in the coming days, promising an improved viewing experience for users.
