A woman in business passed away following liposuction surgery in Turkey that left her in a coma. Milena Mancini, aged 50, died in the intensive care unit of Istanbul’s ISU Medical Park Gaziosmanpaşa hospital, 20 days after her weight loss procedure at a private clinic. She had traveled to Turkey in September with one of her daughters from Italy. Approximately 36 hours post-operation, she developed severe abdominal pain due to a perforated intestine during surgery, leading to an infection.
Milena’s uncle, Luigi Di Palma, revealed that she encountered complications during the surgery, resulting in a clinic-acquired infection. Her family was unaware of the surgery until she was admitted to intensive care, prompting some members to fly to Turkey to be with her. Unfortunately, her condition worsened, and she eventually passed away after being in a coma for several days. A post-mortem examination will be conducted in Italy once her body is repatriated.
Hailing from Isola del Liri, a town near Rome, Milena managed an estate agency after years as a financial consultant. She had recently established a new branch in Frosinone before her untimely demise. Survived by her husband Umberto, daughters Alice and Juditta, father Alvaro, and sisters Rita and Sara, she was described by Luigi as a determined, capable individual who was warm, cheerful, and well-liked by all.
In a separate incident earlier in July, a young British woman named Ruby Khan, aged 30, tragically died following liposuction and tummy tuck procedures in Turkey. The surgery at Medical Point International Hospital in Izmir initially proceeded well, but Ruby’s heart rate surged during the operation, leading to her demise a day later. An inquest has been scheduled for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
