A video capturing a dramatic daytime street confrontation outside a cellphone store shows an off-duty police officer shooting a suspected robber and assisting in the apprehension of another individual. The incident occurred on Avenida Paula Ferreira in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The off-duty officer, identified as Luiz Fernando Souza Nunes de Viveiros, witnessed two men confronting a delivery driver outside the store. One of the assailants reportedly announced a robbery, prompting the officer to discharge his weapon, striking one of the suspects, 26-year-old Michael Santos Preto, who died at the scene. The second suspect, Joao Renato Macedo dos Reis, attempted to escape on foot but was subdued by bystanders. Despite trying to fire a weapon at the officer, the gun malfunctioned. Authorities cordoned off the area for forensic analysis and evidence collection. The Sao Paulo State Department of Public Security confirmed that the suspects resisted arrest, resulting in one fatality and the other’s apprehension.
